Commission Orders
To commission a piece please scroll below and read carefully my 6 step process. I offer multiple sizes that range from $400.00 and upwards. Pricing depends on your background, how many subjects you will have, and the overall complexity of your piece. To secure your spot in my waitlist click "book order" below and place your deposit. After your deposit is received I will send an email to the address you provided with your deposit and we'll get started on your piece!

Booking Process
1
Booking & Waitlist
Commissions are open for 2025, starting in May. To book your portrait after May 1st, and reserve a spot on my waitlist click the “book order” button below and it will direct you to place your deposit towards your portrait.

If you need your portrait by a specific date please let me know when we discuss your piece and I will try my best to accommodate. My waitlist tends to vary throughout the year.
2
Payment: Deposit & Add-ons
A deposit upfront of $100.00 is necessary for booking your spot in the waiting list. The deposit is non-refundable as you are booking a spot in my calendar that could be used by someone else. When it is your turn in the waiting list I will present you with a sketch of your portrait and background options to choose from. When you confirm the mock up please pay the remaining balance if you did not pay in full upfront. After this I will proceed to create the original. I accept payment via Card, PayPal, or Venmo.

Mounting, fine art prints, custom puzzles, and fleece blankets are also available to add to your commission order. If you are interested in these please let me know when we kick-off your piece. Mounting comes with your portrait under sizes 18"x24".

Photo References & Personality
After you’ve paid your deposit, I will need a photo or a few of the subject. Please send these photos to my email at info@brittanywatersart.com . Your subject could be a dog, a cat, a horse, a person, a bird etc. Or a combination of many. Having different photos from different perspectives will help me to get an idea of how the subject or subjects look. Photos should be (if possible) not too close or not too far from the subject. High quality photos are appreciated, but aren't necessary. I have worked using low quality photos many times. If you don’t have many photos of the subject, or you are not sure of what to send just sent what you have and I will find a way to work from the photos that you provide. Also, I will need a description of the subject. It can be anything you choose to share with me, something about their personality, your favorite memory with them, anything about their story and your relationship with your companion. These stories are great for me to understand the personality of the subject and to share about the creation of your personal commission.

Confirming Your Sketch & Background
When your turn in the list arrives, I will create different sketches using the photos you provided. These sketches will include different compositions, perspectives, a combination of different subjects (if it’s a multiple subject portrait), etc. I will also make adjustments in colors, eyes, and light source to make the portrait more visually interesting. I will propose up to 10 different gradient background colors for you to choose from so that your portrait will fit better in your home or a background color that will better suit your subject. Once your sketch and background color are approved full payment for your piece is due. I accept payment via Card, PayPal, or Venmo.
My base pricing assumes either a plain colored background, or something very diffused without high detail. However, if you would like a detailed background, please let me know and we can discuss options. I can provide you with a bespoke quotation based on your preferences.
5
Creating Your Portrait
Each portrait is made to order with an 8-12 week lead time. When we have confirmed the desired sketch I will move onto concentrate on the original. If you’ve booked your spot for, let’s say, August-October that means the original portrait will be started, finished and shipped in that time frame. Keep in mind some portraits could take a little longer than expected. Art is a very subjective matter and at times can be difficult to calculate exactly how long one piece will take me this is why I prefer to give 3 month deadlines and if I finish earlier the better. During the creation of the original I will be in touch sending weekly updates of the progress of your piece.

Shipping & Reviews
After confirmation that you are happy with your portrait I will proceed to ship it. The portrait is sent extremely well packaged and protected. I take great care and attention in my packaging process. My portraits arrive beautifully wrapped accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, signed and dated both in the certificate and in the painting. At the moment I find FedEx to be an excellent shipping company. I’ve been using them for the last few years and I’ve never had any issues. They are very reliable and extremely fast in their deliveries. Shipping costs are tentative to current market rates.

You can also leave me a review if you wish. Reviews are really instrumental in helping me to grow my business, and I’m always so appreciative to hear your feedback. If you'd like to do so please send to info@brittanywatersart.com Thank You!

Dear Brittany, Bruce and I were so surprised to receive your wonderful portrait of Buddy! The soft pastel medium is new to us, and is simply beautiful. It captures Buddy perfectly, and I smile every time I look at it. It hangs in the dining room and is the only picture on that wall. It looks like it was made for that place. Thank you so much!
